Michigan Home School State Tournament
JV & Varsity 2009
October 23rd & October 24th, 2009
Pool Play: Teams are divided into pools. Team assignments for pool play are determined by a drawing.
JV pool play will consist of two-game matches against each team in the pool, rally scored with the let serve to 21 points capped at 23.
Playoffs: Teams will be placed into playoffs by rank and total score during pool play.
Tie Break Procedure: Ties for playoff positions are resolved by:
1. Compare head to head competition: Who won when the teams played each other?
2. If the teams “split” in pool play, which team scored the most points in there match?
3. If the scoring was tied, compare total points scored for the day. Add points scored on the day and subtract the points scored against. This differential is the tiebreaker.
4. Coin flip.
Playoffs:
~Starting times are approximate, matches will be played back-to-back beginning 30 minutes after the last match of pool play.
~ JV playoffs will be best two out of three games. Rally scoring with the let serve to 21 points no cap, if needed the 3rd game is to 15 no cap. Higher seeded team calls the flip. Whom ever loses the coin toss gets bench choice.
~Varsity playoffs will be best two out of three games. Rally scoring with let serve to 25 points no cap, if needed the 3rd game is to 15 no cap. Higher seeded team calls the flip. Whom ever loses the coin toss gets bench choice.
~Each team is required to provide one adult line judge and score keeper for each match in which they are playing, the highest seeded team will be the official score keeper and lower seeded team will control the score board. Again line judges and score keepers are not allowed to talk to the players on the court.
Awards Ceremony: An awards ceremony honoring the coaches and players of the 1st , 2nd and 3rd place teams will take place on Court “A” immediately following the championship match. Please plan to stay.
Remember we are here for the players. We want this to be a positive experience for the girls. Keep your comments positive and be respectful of those who are playing, officiating, coaching, line judging and scorekeeping. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
